A message From the Detachment Commandant
Marines,
I, along with the other Detachment officers, look forward to serving
you and the Marine Corps League during 2012. I encourage you to
attend our quarterly meetings at the Woodhaven Country Club in Palm
Desert. Our guest speakers at these luncheons have included Marine
war veterans, active-duty military personnel, authors,
representatives from the Veterans Administration, and
representatives from local museums.
Our sole fund-raising event for 2012 will be our Marine Corps Birthday Luncheon on Friday, 9 November at the Miracle Springs Resort & Spa in Desert Hot Springs. The net proceeds from this event enable us to provide funding to the Marine Corps Junior ROTC Program at Desert Hot Springs High School, the summer Devil Pups Program training at Camp Pendleton, and the USO facility at the Palm Springs Airport. We also sent $1,000 of special Christmas food items to a Marine rifle platoon deployed in Afghanistan during 2010 and 2011.
All honorably discharged Marines and Navy veterans who served with Marines as medical corpsmen are eligible to join our Detachment. Spouses are welcome to attend our luncheons as well. Please feel free to contact me at ltcollewke@aol.com or at (760) 322-5185 if you are interested in joining our ranks.
Semper Fidelis,
Carl Andrew Lewke
