Welcome Aboard!
All Marine veterans and Navy corpsmen who have served with the Fleet Marine Force are cordially invited to join our ranks. Detachment #1156 serves the Coachella Valley cities of Desert Hot Springs, Palm Springs, Cathedral City, Rancho Mirage, Indian Wells, Palm Desert, Coachella, Thousand Palms, and Indio in Southern California. The Marine Air Ground Combat Center at Twentynine Palms is about an hour's drive from Palm Springs.
A message From the Detachment Commandant
Marines,
I, along with the other Detachment Officers, look
forward to serving you and the Marine Corps League
during 2010. I encourage you to attend our quarterly
meetings. My plan is to arrange for a series of
interesting
guest speakers to attend each of our meetings as was
done last year.
Our sole fund-raising event for 2010 will be our Marine Corps Birthday Luncheon on Tuesday,10 November at the Miracle Springs Spa and Resort in Desert Hot Springs. Your support of this event is critical since the net proceeds provide the funding for our Detachment's activities and support of the Marine Corps Junior ROTC Program at Desert Hot Springs High School.
There are a large number of Marine veterans residing in the Coachella Valley who do not belong to any veteran organization. Please help me in "passing the word" about our Marine Corps League Detachment.
If you have any ideas regarding activities for our Detachment during 2010, please feel free to provide your input to me or any of the other officers. Your suggestions are always welcome.
Semper Fidelis,
Carl Andrew Lewke
